See what Ireland has in store for you
The Whitethorn Art Gallery is situated in Clifden Town, County Galway. Clifden is a well-established and thriving artistic community on the west coast of Ireland, which every year hosts the renowned Clifden Community Arts Festival. The Whitethorn is dedicated to promoting the work of local, national and international artists, from the very well established in the Irish and European art world, to the emerging talent that is also so plentiful, particularly here in Ireland. The gallery director, Anne Merrins, has gathered together a diverse group of painters and sculptors that will cater to the most eclectic tastes, from the gaunt and incredible windswept tree sculptures of Glenn Gibson to the lithe, swaying, bronze touched figures of Robert Jayet. The Station House courtyard, of which the Whitethorn Gallery is a part, also has another wonderful antiques and art gallery, several designer clothes and household boutiques and a theatre and cinema, not to mention the hotel in the courtyard, making it a lovely place to while away a couple of hours or days, or even weeks!
