The Quiet Man Cottage

More than 60 years have passed since Irish American director John Ford shot his classic movie The Quiet Man in Ireland. But interest in the movie has never been stronger. The famous Quiet Man Bridge is located just before the town of Oughterard. The still intact bridge was where Wayne's character sat and heard about the White O'Morn Cottage. In the film the cottage has been neglected, and Quiet Man fans have removed stones as memories. However, there is a replica of the cottage right beside Peacockes Hotel in Maam Cross which has free entry. In Peacockes Hotel, The Gift Shop, Connemara Gifts sells a range of the Quiet Man Memorabilia. The Quiet Man movie is also played throughout the day in the bar.
