See what Ireland has in store for you
The Skellig Coast is surrounded by some of the richest fishing grounds in Europe. Guests of Wild Atlantic Boats on Valentia Island, County Kerry, regularly catch mackerel, wrasse, conger, ling, cod, squid, pollock and red blenny, with basking sharks also making an occasional appearance. All equipment is provided such as rods, bait, weights, lines and lifebelts. Up to eight anglers are comfortably accommodated on board. Explore Valentia Harbour, Valentia Island Lighthouse, Beginish Island, Portmagee Channel, Church Island and more. Beginish Island is also home to a grey seal colony. Take a trip around the UNESCO World Heritage Island where Skellig Michael is home to a sixth century early Christian monastery that was once home to the monks of Saint Finian. Visitors can view the world's second largest gannet colony on Skellig Michael and catch a glimpse of the puffins. The Atlantic waters are teeming with seals and dolphins and there are regular minke and fin whale sightings off the Skellig Coast. Enjoy a day trip from Valentia Island to the bustling harbour town of Dingle with a view of the Blasket Islands on the way. Embark in the morning at Knightstown Marina, explore Dingle town, enjoy lunch at the harbour and return to Valentia Island in the afternoon.
