Kilkenny is regarded as the hurling capital of Ireland, experience a 3000 year old Celtic game which is regarded as the world's oldest and fastest outdoor field game. During the hurling experience, you will be shown a video about the history of hurling. You will visit Legend's Hurling Bar Museum. Legends is a bar dedicated to the legends that have played the game of hurling - past and present. The walls are adorned with beautiful hand painted murals of Ireland's finest hurlers and some beautiful prints of historical hurling moments from across the decades. At the O'Loughlin Gaels grounds you will have a chance to learn the skills of the game. You will feel the excitement of the fastest game in the world, experience the skills of the game from our hurling guides' and hear about the craftsmanship of the hurley. The tour ends in Legend's Hurling Bar where you watch a game of hurling to see the skills you have learned on the pitch while enjoying a bowl of Lanigan's famous fresh Irish Lamb Stew in the heart of Kilkenny City. Hurling is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic origin, administered by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The game has prehistoric origins, has been played for at least 3,000 years and is the world's fastest field team game in terms of game play. It is one of Ireland's native Gaelic games. There is a similar game for women, called camogie. Kilkenny is regarded as the home of hurling champions and are known as the Kilkenny Cats. Hurling tours take place at 14:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Duration 2 hours including meal time.
