Loughash Wedge Tomb

A megalithic, wedge-shaped tomb dating from around 4,000 - 4,500 years ago. The roof of the whole chamber would have been capstoned, however, only one remains. The entrance faces west and has a double portal leading to a single burial chamber. On excavation cremated bone, of perhaps three individuals, was found along with a number of other artefacts. Featured in the 'Journey in Time' Archaeological Tour. Interpretation available on site. A wonderful example of one of the many ancient archaeological features which dot the landscape of Tyrone and the Sperrins Situated off the B48, near Lough Ash, and midway between the villages of Dunamanagh and Plumbridge.
