See what Ireland has in store for you
Experience a two-day guided tour in the great Sperrin Mountains. This trip will provide space for your energy to awaken and emerge as you take time to be in nature. Your adventure begins when you check into the family owned and run 4-star Beech Hill Country House Hotel. Here you will enjoy 2 night’s bed and full Irish breakfast, stay in a heritage room, plus a hearty packed lunch on each of your slow adventure days. In a society where everyone is “connected” by technology and people feel stressed and disconnected from one another, stay in the present moment to enjoy the benefits of connecting with nature without the interference of technology. Connect closely with your surroundings as you are guided by local ecologist & archaeologist Martin over both days exploring the Sperrin`s colorful natural habitats, uniquely sculpted glacial landscapes and ancient ritual sites. All of the landscapes and sites visited have their own story to tell and are readily accessible via short walks. Later that day you will be welcomed by Mabel Campbell at Bradkeel Farm for a short tour of her organic farmyard and meet its heritage breeds of pigs, sheep and hens. Plus visit her organic fruit and vegetable garden. You will also be invited by Mabel to roll up your sleeves and learn how to make traditional soda bread scones the way her granny did in her country kitchen many years ago. Best of all you get to eat soda bread scones fresh from the oven covered in melted butter and jam, with lashings of proper loose leaf tea. On day 2 your adventure continues with more exploration of the Sperrin`s landscapes, ecology and archaeology followed by a guided tour of local producer of Dart Mountain Cheese, Tamnagh Foods. Committed to the principles of artisan production Tamnagh Foods carefully produce food with the minimum use of machines to maximize the natural flavours of their Dart Mountain Cheese. Ingredients are sourced locally to keep food miles down, ensure traceability and recycle to minimize waste. The team are also committed to food integrity and source directly from the farms in the region to guaranteed the source of the food and improve spend in their local community. As well as cheese the team hand produce batches of granola, relishes and chutneys which you will get a chance to taste at the end of your tour. Plus, a short tour of Tamnagh Lodge and its grounds.
