See what Ireland has in store for you
Boasting one of the largest private plant collections globally, the gardens feature flora from every continent. Mount Congreve House, built in 1760 by John Roberts, has been home to six generations of Congreves. Inspired by Lionel de Rothschild’s garden at Exbury, garden director Herman Dool began work on the gardens in the 1950s, and Ambrose Congreve’s passion for his spectacular garden is still evident today. To make the most of your time at Mount Congreve House, visitors can take a guided tour through the house to the gardens. Afterwards, you can relax in the Stables Café where fresh local produce is served daily. Experience old world charm with afternoon tea in the beautifully restored Tack Room, surrounded by nature. For memorable events, Mount Congreve Gardens offer intimate dining to grand banqueting in both the Library Room and the large Drawing Room, also known as the Chinese Room due to its exquisite hand painted wallpaper. No visit to Mount Congreve Gardens is complete without a visit to FOXFORD. FOXFORD at Mount Congreve is more than just a gift store. Located in the heart of their beautifully restored courtyard, FOXFORD offer a range of gift ideas for any occasion, including beautiful textiles that complement the breathtaking landscape. The gardens are committed to sustainability and welcome visitors of all ages, abilities and cultures. Mount Congreve Gardens are easily accessible by car from the N25, or from the Waterford Greenway by foot or bike.
