Skellig Coast Discovery

Join local man and skipper Des O’Shea and explore Kenmare Bay’s Skellig Coast maritime folklore, history and ocean wildlife with a range of itineraries aboard the marine vessel Iolar na Mara (Eagle of the Sea). These one, two and three hour voyages take place in the beautiful coastal offshore surroundings of the Skellig Coast and Kenmare Bay. Journey to isolated bays and coves. Cross Kenmare Bay to beautiful West Cork and its outer islands including the Bull Rock. See the Skelligs and islands of Derrynane Bay as you venture around this spectacular coastline. Look out for Whales and Dolphins (May to September) and experience the variances in light, colour and shade as the temperate sub tropical climate moves across these wild shores. See seabirds including Puffin, Shearwater, Guillemots and Razorbills as they forage on the surface for plankton and fish species. For the more energetic, get a chance to land on beautiful Dursey Island and walk its length, taking in rugged scenery and amazing views before venturing back across the bay. For foodies, take a trip to Killmackillogue and sample some of the local seafood including a plate of Helen’s famous Kenmare Bay Mussels at the Pub on the Pier.
