See what Ireland has in store for you
Bansha Castle is one of Ireland’s best, kept secret getaways. The historic estate offers visitors a haven of rest and relaxation in County Tipperary. The lovely old country house, dating from the 18th Century, is set in private grounds with mature gardens, backed by the beautiful Glen of Aherlow and the famous Galtee Mountains. Once owned by General Sir William Butler, the Butlers of Ormond crest is still evident on the façade of the round tower, highlighting the rich heritage of this unique residence. Downstairs, guests will find a newly refurbished and fully equipped country style kitchen. There is an elegant dining room with the space to seat 15 to 18 people, an anteroom with full snooker table and spacious lounge. Outside, there is a garden, patio and barbecue area, so guests can make the most of warm, sunny days. The first and second floors, meanwhile, comprise seven lovely bedrooms, where guests are sure to enjoy a restful night’s sleep. Set just 500 metres north of Bansha Village, the castle is ideally positioned within an hour of Cork, Kilkenny and Limerick. Within about 15km, guests will find three highly rated 18 hole golf courses. The area also boasts extensive walking and cycling routes, fishing, tennis and horse racing. Local places of interest include the Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle and Holy Cross Abbey. Bansha Castle plays host to intimate and unique gatherings, including wedding blessings, civil wedding ceremonies, corporate events, business meetings, birthday and anniversary celebrations, and family reunions.
