See what Ireland has in store for you
The story of Barrow House began in Georgian times. It was built in 1725 and has been home to Lord Denny and also housed Cromwellian agents and wealthy merchants. The property passed onto famous old Irish families and the grounds often saw glimpses of local smugglers driven by desire and the power of wealth. In recent times, Barrow House was owned by the last of the Knights of Kerry, Ireland's original nobility. The tranquil waterfront location and relaxed but luxurious style make Barrow House a popular destination in Kerry. Barrow House is nestled by the side of Barrow Bay and makes it the perfect place for guests wanting to escape from busy lives. The House was reopened by current owner Daragh McDonough summer 2017 after a big renovation. The house has eight ensuite Super king, king and twin bedrooms each individually designed to reflect the character of the house. The rooms come with Egyptian cotton sheets, goose feather down duvets and pillows, complimentary WiFi and toiletries are all provided as standard. A continental breakfast can be served in bed. Alternatively a locally sourced cooked breakfast menu is available at the communal table in the breakfast room. Afternoons can be spent in one of two elegant lounges reading, playing games or simply watching the tide roll in. Alternatively, guests can explore the coastline of the Wild Atlantic Way.
