Seapoint Beach in County Dublin consists mainly of large rocks and sand. It is most suitable for swimming at high tide. At the north end of the beach there are slipways and steps with hand rails which lead into the water, making it accessible for all. Swimmers are advised to take care when swimming at the south end of the beach, as the water can be quite shallow with hidden rocks. Seapoint Martello Tower is located at the north end of the beach and was part of a network of 28 sites that were built to defend Dublin from Napoleonic invasion in the early nineteenth century. It is a protected structure. Seapoint Beach is a very popular location for swimmers to the north of the beach and for canoeing and kayaking to the south. The beach is lifeguarded during the summer months. More information can be found on the noticeboard located at the beach.
