Opened in 1945, Cork Public Museum, Cork City, occupies a two story Georgian style house and modern extension, with a commanding, central position in Fitzgerald Park, about a 15 minute walk from the city centre. The museum has a collection of more than 50,000 objects that reflect the diverse and rich material heritage of the city. The city’s economic, social, political and municipal history is presented to the public in engaging and enjoyable exhibitions in the galleries, as well as online on their website. Discover Cork Public Museum and the stories it can tell you about Cork City, its people and the events that shaped its evolution from a small medieval settlement to the modern 21st century metropolis it is today.
