See what Ireland has in store for you
Dartfield Country Estate and Horse Museum is set in 350 acres of parkland. The former home of the Blakes, one of the prominent 19th-century Galway tribes, Dartfield is the ideal location for you to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Discover how the Connemara Pony and Irish horse played an integral role in Ireland’s culture throughout time. Meet the ponies and horses, and enjoy dynamic interactive activities ranging from chariot riding and ploughing to jaunting cart rides and horse riding (advanced booking required). History buffs can explore old farming techniques carried out in Ireland, and learn about the amazing world of horses, their biology, their place in Irish folklore and their contributions to Irish society throughout the centuries. There's even an audio-visual presentation and guided tours available for all pre-booked groups. For something a little more laid-back, why not relax in the Dartfield Tea Room or browse through the Dartfield Tack and Gift Shop. And if it's adventure you seek, you can take advantage of horse riding lessons and trekking for all levels, 4x4 off-roading, archery, and clay pigeon shooting. With its relaxed countryside setting and warm welcome, this is a unique experience with lots to offer every visitor, not just horse lovers. Advanced booking is required. The museum is wheelchair accessible.
