See what Ireland has in store for you
Taking five days to complete, the picturesque South Leinster Way runs southwestwards from the village of Kildavin in County Carlow, through parts of County Kilkenny and finishes in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary. A moderate waymarked trail, it crosses varied terrain including the heathery flanks of majestic Mount Leinster (796m) and beautiful Brandon Hill (515m), a charming riverside leg along the River Barrow’s towpath, stretches between idyllic mountain summits and leafy coniferous woodlands. Approximately 58km of The South Leinster Way follows local roads, its final stretch comprises 30km on quiet tarmac roads. The total aggregate ascent over this trail is about 1,500m but there are no significant climbs. Passing a number of pretty towns and villages over the five-day route, Borris, Graiguenamanagh, Inistioge, Mullinavat and Carrick-on-Suir among them, walkers will find plenty of accommodation and dining options along this stunning trail.
