See what Ireland has in store for you
Viewmount House is a beautiful historic house built in 1620 by Lord Aungier Baron of Longford. The house was converted to Georgian style in the mid-1700s by Thomas Packenham. This beautiful historic house is set in four acres of idyllic gardens. In this tranquil setting, it is difficult to believe that you are less than one kilometre from Longford town centre. The house has been tastefully refurbished with flair and sensitivity. Climb the elegant white staircase surrounded by walls of warm red to magnificent bedrooms with period furniture, antique beds, wooden floors, woven rugs, and views over gardens, the local golf club, and the surrounding countryside. Each bedroom has its own character and style. Wonderful, freshly cooked breakfasts are served from an extensive menu in the stylish dining room with its vaulted ceilings, pine wood block flooring, and Georgian blue walls. These days, it's VM Restaurant at Viewmount House that is claiming the spotlight, with head chef Gary O'Hanlon having won many awards, including Restaurant of the Year with Ireland Guide, Top 100 Restaurants with McKenna Guides, and Best Hotel Restaurant Leinster, RAI.
