Achill Island Distillery

Achill Island Distillery, just off the mainland of County Mayo, is the home of IrishAmerican Whiskey. A family run distillery, founded by John McKay in 2019. The distillery was built with visitors in mind, with a purpose built visitor platform bringing you right next to the copper distilling pots, providing visitors an up close and personal experience of the whiskey making process. The expert guides will take you through the whiskey making process from selecting the right blend of barley, all the way through to the bottling and labelling of the whiskey. They also explain how storing and maturing the distilled whiskey in different casks can enhance and give subtle favours to the whiskeys. The highlight of the tour is the intimate whiskey tasting experience at the Barley Field Bar. It is designed to give the ultimate Irish whiskey tasting experience to visitors. Here visitors can sample 2 of the award winning IrishAmerican whiskeys as well as tasting their Mayo Mojito cocktail.
